A downloadable game for Windows

King's Field 2 Remade is a difficult, first-person role-playing action RPG dungeon crawler. This is a fan tribute to a FromSoftware old series. And for now it has Demo that shows a full gameplay slice of the game.

Your beloved friends have drowned. Your possessions lie forever buried in the briny deep. Your honor is trampled. Your home, the prosperous kingdom of Verdite, faces annihilation at the hands of a power-hungry warlock's advancing armies. Verdite's last line of defense is the legendary Moonlight Sword, a long lost weapon of immense magical capacity. You are Alexander, royal knight and lone survivor of a perilous sea voyage to the island of Melanat, resting place of the Moonlight Sword. Your objective is all too clear: find the blade and escape.

FEATURING:

  • Cool weapons and magic!
  • Various enemies that are interesting to fight
  • You can dismember them, set them on fire and lure them to traps!
  • A full demo that can be completed to its logical end
  • Interactive objects like traps, barrels, items, characters and chests full of loot!

Controls can be slightly customized with full gamepad support.

Unbelievable! This is a 10 out of 10 work. I can’t believe I just heard about it only to find it’s on hold (💔). Great work!

Thank you! I hope to one day delight you with a similar project or a full version of this one—anything is possible. ❤

(+1)

Awesome!!  I still play the original version of this from time to time, and it DESPERATELY needs a better control scheme.

(+1)

An amazing remake, it captures the awe and fun of the original while making the game easier to play for a modern audience (especially the modernized controls and fps). I loved exploring and fighting new enemies, I'm sad it had to end where it did. Whatever stuff you do next I'm excited to see and thanks a bunch for making this remake.

I've now played this remake all the way through five times within only a week ;-v-. Thank you so much for making a modernized version of the beginning of the game, I'm still trying to get used to a first-person game with the wacky 1995 controls King's Field has so I haven't gotten terribly far in the original game itself (same story with Ultima Underworld actually, old first person games no matter the platform seem to have control wackiness).

Some small notes:

  • There is no ability to unequip items or spells (unlike the original)
  • Saves are seemingly ordered randomly rather than based on when the save was made or last saved upon
  • The quick button item will change to the flask even if you have set it to something else like the pirate's map (which I noticed while looking around to make sure I'd found everything)
  • This may be a me-thing but the poison feels inconsequential, it doesn't last long enough to damage you enough to create the desire to use an antidote and doesn't do enough damage within that time to make you need to use a herb or flask (this may be moreso the fact that the newer controls make the game easier in general)
  • I once got stuck in a wall in the cave that has two skeles (I don't remember which exactly but it has a little alcove) it was a rough wall so I assume it was that I got stuck below on of the triangles (I'm not sure the collision implementation here) it's not a big deal and I don't know how to recreate it, it was more amusing than anything

Even with those small issues, I love the controls and feel of this remake. I will certainly be replaying this remake numerous times more before I can get used to the controls and feel of the original game. I'll put up with my computer revving up hard with the CPU usage of the Unreal engine ;v-v.

Much love~

You’ve warmed my heart. Thank you so much for the feedback!

With this demo, I’ve made a big step in learning game development. I’m increasingly realizing that I still need to gain more experience. Right now, I’m working on a new project with a team. We’ve made some progress already, and the 'foundation' of the game is stronger than what I had in my demo.

So the plan is simple: we successfully (or not) finish the new project, and after that, I’ll most likely start working on a King's Field-like game. With the experience gained, development will be more polished and faster!

(+2)

Amazing demo for a remake of a classic! Sincerely hope you can do the resto of the levels. Would love a full remake with the great graphics and better controls!

Not in the plans for now, but anything is possible. Thank you!

(+1)

Immediately went to grab the knight sword only to be disappointed.  0/10.  Just kidding.  This looks and plays great.  Really manages to update the look and gameplay without compromising the nuance of the original.  Well done!

Thank you!

(+1)

Loved the demo. Never player the old kings filed games except IV and this one is faster, but really enjoyable. Are you using Unreal Engine? If so, everything is blueprint code, some C++ or all is C++?

Everything is done in Blueprints, plus an interface plugin and 3D pathfinding on C++. Overall, it’s pretty cool that I managed to create a project without any programming experience. Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!

(+1)

Awesome Demo! I wish I could have played the rest of the game! I hope that will happen one day!

(+1)

Hello! I'm trying to extract the game but I keep getting an Error 0x8096002A: No description available for a bunch of the files in the game. Was just wondering if I was doing something wrong?

(+1)

Maybe you should try a different archiver, like WinRAR or something else. Or perhaps it didn't download correctly...

(+1)

Doing it with WinRAR worked, thank you!

(+1)

Hey first time playing any King's Field game. After attacking if I wait for my attack bar to fully fill will my attack do more dmg than if I attack as soon as I can? Thx and thx for the remake, wanted to play the game for a long time.

Yes, the orange bar represents the weapon's attack strength. With an empty bar, the weapon hardly deals any damage. Thanks for playing!

(+1)

this is cool as H, love seeing the love king's field has been getting lately. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your future projects!

(3 edits) (+1)

Sorry I'm a bit confused, is this going to be a full remake in the future or are you only remaking a portion of the game? I'd absolutely love to play a full game of this. Would even donate if need be to get it done.

Also this demo is REALLY great. I love the little touches like enemies having new animations and moving legs. So cool. if there were a few tiny things I could change, it'd be nice to have the weapon and magic bars be optionally at the bottom middle of the screen or so, it's easier on the eyes than having to look up to the left every time to see if your weapon is charged. Also I think it's a bit dark in areas where it doesn't need to be, just needs a bit of work on having better lighting in areas.

Very good work though, awesome demo.

(-1)

Thank you very much! We are currently in the middle of a "marketing campaign," the outcome of which will determine whether to finish this project or move on to another. I talk about it in more detail in this video:

So yes, you can support it in two ways)

In any case, I will continue making similar projects. I'm glad you enjoyed the demo. Thank you for your feedback and for playing!

(+1)

The game of my childhood... What a pleasure to play keyboard mouse... You have done a remarkable job. bravo

Thank you!

(+1)

Very excited to see more of this. My main problem with the original title was the camera controls. this remake completely fixes that issue.

(+1)

Good Game i need more :D

(+1)

i seen lobosjr was streaming this demo he really loved it is impressed with your work

I also watched his entire stream. Great playthrough!

(+2)

Saw SpaceYeen play this on Twitch. He loves the King's Field games. You're doing a great job with this and would love to see more!

(+1)

Watched someone play this remake recently and holy heckie it looks so good! And yeah like bravecat mentioned, it's SpaceYeen at Twitch who I found out that this project existed at all from. Honestly would love to see this thing finished, you're doing an awesome job so far!

(+1)

Great! I'm glad you found out about the project. Thanks to the streamer and everyone who shared it with him!

(+1)

just so you know, https://www.twitch.tv/spaceyeen is streaming the demo right now for a few hundred viewers! we're huge fans of king's field on his channel, so we're ecstatic about the work you've done so far. thanks for taking on this project!

(+1)

Thanks a lot! I hope we all get our remake/remaster or a full-fledged new part of King's Field!

(+2)

i really want you to continue development on this if i can support you some how let me know

(+1)
You can support by telling suitable YouTubers/streamers about the demo. Or donate on Patreon. All links are on the YouTube channel and in the video description (also in Discord) Thank you very much for the walkthrough and support!
(+3)

I never had the chance to play KIng's Field before, so this would be an amazing chance to play this classic! Much love and appreciation for the developers! <3

(+1)

Thank you <З

(+1)

One issue seems to be the fish aggression on the shore. Unless of course if the more aggressive fish was made by design. The fish literally jump out of the water on the shoreline and squirm around when attempting to reach the player. This may be a result of the overall more aggressive monsters nature this remake has over the original design.

Yes) Everything is complicated with fish. I have remade it many times and will redo it again if it is decided to continue development.

(+2)

This looks excellent! The right kind of remake, looking forward to seeing more if you manage to find a way

(+2)

Thank you!

(+1)

I've played KFII on PS at day one and loved it instantly. Your remake feels exactly like the original and plays even better. Outstanding work, thanks so much for this! Is there a possibility that this will be on macOS one day? ;D

With Unreal engine this is quite possible) Thank you!
(+1)

I want to download and play this, but want to know one thing, as this is a demo, will it be completed to a full game?

(+1)

I have a YouTube channel where I released a video about this. In general, in three weeks it will become clear whether the project will be continued or whether I should move on to other projects.

In any case, the demo differs in playthrough from the potential full game)

(+1)

Honestly, I think I would really like to see your own original game with the work you did here. It would be amazing, since you clearly have a passion for what From did with dungeon crawling years past.

(+1)

This will definitely be the case in the future) I learned a lot from this project)

(+1)

Looking forward to it, even if it has nothing to do with From.

(2 edits) (+1)

This is absolutely incredible. It looks good while keeping a good part of the original game intact. And it proves that King's Field can play faster while maintaining its identity and still feel like KF.

I do feel like some of the enemies are way more agressive than they needed to be, even considering that now we have all the turn speed we wish.

Nothing that can't be tweaked, anyways.

I like all the little things you added to make the game more interesting. Can't wait to see what you may end up making for the rest of the game! ^^

I also hope that the project will be completed! There really are a lot of things that need to be fixed. Balance is one of the main things. Thanks for playing!)
(+2)

LOVED IT!!! Awesome job bringing KF2 into the modern era. Would absolutely love to see the work continue. Congrats on the success!!!

Thank you very much!!! I also hope for a continuation) One way or another, I will continue to make similar games!
(+1)

love it but i cannot save...any help...i found the savespot and it tells me that it saves...but it doesnt work...thanks...

If you have saves:

1) go to Windows > KingsField > Saved > SaveGames
2) Copy you saves ( Exept NumberOfSlots and SimplySettings)

3) Delete "Save" folder of game folder.

4) Run and close game

5) Paste you saves to Windows > KingsField > Saved > SaveGames

6) Try loading into the game through your save (the name of the save in the game may be different, you will need to re-save to fix this)

Thank you!

(+2)

This is so absolutely amazing, I've been hoping for a remake like this ever since i found the original and (no offense) its terrible controls lol. I wanna see this remake in full now and I hope it all goes well for this dev <3

Thank you! <З

(+2)

It was always hard trying to play the original games because of controls and performance. I'm excited to see where this goes so I can finally give king's field a proper go

(+1)

Extremely cool project, I love all the new animations! Really hope you continue to work on it, or make something new in the style of King's Field. Not nearly enough dungeon crawlers in this style out there.

(+1)
In any case, I will continue to make similar games) One day we will get our "King's field Remake"! Thank you!
(+1)

Cannot thank you enough for this project. Simply amazing work. There is a magic in this game that not many seek out or give a chance to fully enjoy. Hopefully your project changes that.

Thank you for your interest! I hope the project will be completed)

(+1)

🔥🔥🔥

(+1)

Amazing Demo. I hope you keep up the good work.

(+1)

I was so sad the game ended and yet I enjoyed it so much. I haven't had this much fun in a long time, even for a full game. I really hope this gets finished at some point. Good luck to all your endeavours, whether this one or another.

(+1)
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it. The fate of this project has not yet been decided. I publish all the news on the YouTube channel. But in any case, I will continue to make games. And one day we'll all get a "Kings Field remake"

thx for these piece of memory. Same feeling as the original.

Thank you for your interest!)

(+1)

This game could totally works with software Lumen.

(+1)

What about King's Field 1? :)

(+1)
Who knows) If you are not familiar with the series - part 1 was released only in Japan. And the sequel was presented as 1 in US. Good game, though
(+1)

You can find the english patched ps1 disk on cdromance.
You need Duckstation (ps1 emulator) to play.

An excellent and very faithful remake of King's Field 2, looking forward to playing the completed version!

Thank you!

Very good demo but i would like to see Lumen, i believe raytracing GI and Reflections can look good regardless what it is in, especially if it replaces the god awful SSAO or i guess in Ue5 it's DFAO with SSAO? Either way, i think you should try experimenting with HW Lumen, software lumen is just   useless and defeats the very purpose of Ray tracing

I didn’t add it because on my PC the lumen greatly reduces fps - up to 3. It would be cool to make it an option. Perhaps this will appear in the future. Thank you!

It could be the Ue5 path tracer that renders the scene with obscene amounts of rays that give it 3fps, but I suppose it also could be Lumen since for Software Lumen it is recommended to have 1070 (or Rx 5500xt they don't say it in the manual, but I assume it is the minimum) and higher

It looks like it. I have a gtx 1060 with 3gb video memory
(+1)

Well it not really 1060 problem more the 3 gigs problem, oof it was rough even back when it came out i immediately realized i made a big mistake buying but also it kinda got me looking more into PC hardware so i suppose you lose some you win some
